1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using ScrambleBoss ("the Game"), operated by BOSS Software ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you should not use the Game. ScrambleBoss is available at scrambleboss.com and through our iOS application. These terms apply to all users, whether you play as a guest, a registered user, or a Boss Pass subscriber.

2. The Game

ScrambleBoss is a daily word puzzle game where players unscramble a set of letters to find all valid English words. The game offers multiple modes: a Daily Puzzle that resets every day at midnight Eastern Time, a Quick Play mode with random puzzles, and a VS Mode where you can challenge friends through shareable links. Players earn XP, level up, unlock achievements, and compete on leaderboards. New puzzles are generated from a curated dictionary of common English words.

3. User Accounts

To access features like leaderboards, profiles, challenges, and game history, you must create an account using either an email and password or Google Sign-In. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and current information when registering
• Maintain the security of your password and account credentials
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
• Maintain only one account per person — duplicate accounts may be merged or deleted
• Choose a username that is not offensive, impersonating, or misleading

We reserve the right to change, suspend, or delete usernames that violate these guidelines or common decency, with or without notice.

4. Fair Play and Anti-Cheating

ScrambleBoss is built on fair competition. All scores are validated server-side — the client sends only the words you found, and the server independently calculates your score. You agree not to:

• Use bots, scripts, browser extensions, word-solving tools, or any automated means to find words or submit scores
• Exploit bugs, glitches, or vulnerabilities in the game (instead, please report them to us)
• Manipulate network requests, modify client-side code, or tamper with game data
• Create multiple accounts to inflate leaderboard positions or circumvent restrictions
• Share account credentials for the purpose of collaborative score submission

Violations of fair play policies may result in score removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination at our discretion.

5. Boss Pass Subscription

Boss Pass is a paid subscription that removes advertisements and unlocks premium features including additional hint slots, reduced hint cooldowns, and cosmetic profile elements. Boss Pass does not provide any gameplay advantage — all players see the same puzzles and have access to the same words. Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Settings page. Upon cancellation, you retain Boss Pass benefits until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial billing periods. Boss Pass pricing is currently $2.99 per month or $19.99 per year, subject to change with notice.

6. Content and Conduct

ScrambleBoss is a game for everyone. You agree not to use the platform to harass, bully, threaten, or demean other players. Offensive usernames, hate speech, discriminatory language, and targeted harassment will result in immediate account termination without warning. We want ScrambleBoss to be a positive, welcoming community for word game enthusiasts of all backgrounds and ages.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, graphics, sounds, game mechanics, and branding associated with ScrambleBoss are the property of BOSS Software. The word lists used in puzzles are compiled from publicly available English language sources and curated for quality. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works based on ScrambleBoss without our written permission. You may share your scores, screenshots, and game results on social media — we encourage it.

8. Availability and Disclaimers

We strive to keep ScrambleBoss available 24/7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance windows, server issues, deployment updates, and unforeseen technical problems may cause temporary downtime. We are not liable for lost streaks, scores, progress, or data resulting from downtime, bugs, or system errors. The Game is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, BOSS Software shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of ScrambleBoss. Our total liability for any claims arising from the Game shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months prior to the claim.

10. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service, engage in cheating, or abuse other players. Upon termination, your profile, scores, and all associated data will be permanently deleted.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we may notify users through in-game announcements. Continued use of ScrambleBoss after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you should stop using the Game and delete your account.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
